To celebrate our winners’ exceptional contributions, ApplyBoard is creating one-time C$1,000 scholarships in each winner’s name, at the institution they graduated from.
In November of 2023, these scholarships will be awarded to deserving incoming international students who secured their acceptance to one of these institutions through ApplyBoard. These scholarships aim to support the next generation of international leaders, allowing them to pursue their dreams and positively impact their communities.
International Alumni of Impact celebrates former international students who have graduated from a Canadian higher education institution, and who have gone on to make a positive impact within their community, workplace, or internationally. Once International Alumni of Impact winners are officially selected, one-time scholarships will be created in each of their names to deserving incoming international students to help support the next generation of international leaders.

International Alumni of Impact have conquered challenges and hardships to reach their goals and accomplishments. This helps build strength of character and adaptability, which allows them to make impactful contributions. Resilience is an essential ingredient to overcome obstacles in their career or personal life.
International Alumni of Impact are leaders and enablers of bold, creative ways of working in their communities, personal lives, or working environments. Their achievements are a product of their inventiveness, originality, and curiosity. Innovation can be any new idea or way of thinking to address everyday challenges and bring positive change.
International Alumni of Impact have demonstrated ownership, responsibility, and accountability in their lifetime. Their ability and willingness to take initiative injects meaning into their personal life, career, and community. Their initiatives speak to their ambition, confidence, and risk-taking attitude.
At their core, International Alumni of Impact are caring, supportive individuals who work well with others. They’re not only concerned with their own success, but the success of their teammates and peers. Their dedication to helping others, being supportive, and giving back to their community speaks volumes of their character.

International Alumni of Impact is designed to recognize former international students’ stories, shine a light on their successful journeys, and celebrate their impact. As champions of student success, we are creating a space for international alumni to share their story and be celebrated for their impact.
International Alumni of Impact is designed to celebrate the positive impact and contributions of former international students who studied in Canada. This program will amplify their unique stories, profile their achievements, and celebrate their accomplishments.
The judging committee will select the list of winners of International Alumni of Impact based on predetermined evaluation criteria. After the list of winners are announced, ApplyBoard will create one-time scholarships in each of the winners’ names to support deserving incoming international students.
This is the inaugural year of the program and we plan to launch this on an annual basis.
Self-nominations are accepted. Nominations from Canadian Higher Education Institutions and industry professionals will also be accepted. Please note: if you’re nominating somebody else, we’ll work with you to contact the nominee to confirm their consent to be nominated.
If there is a story to tell about how their higher education has allowed the nominee to make a positive impact or contribution for themselves or others, either through their field of work, their community, or through their personal stories, we want to hear it.

The nominee must have graduated from a Canadian higher education institution in the last 20 years.
Nominations from former international students who have graduated between the years of 2002 to 2022 will be considered.
The official call for nominations will open in March 2023. The nomination portal will close on April 7, 2023, unless otherwise specified.
The winners’ announcement will launch in the summer of 2023. All winners will be told in advance of the announcement.
No. The current location of the nominee will not impact their eligibility.
No. The type of program, field of study and level of post-secondary education they have graduated with will not impact eligibility.
There is no nomination fee or cost to participate in this program.
No. ApplyBoard does not need to have played any part in the nominee’s education journey.
If you are nominating on behalf of someone else, there is no limit to the number of submissions or nominations you can make.
We’ll work with you (the nominator) to make contact with the nominee, securing their approval to participate in this program.
No; the selection process reviews the nominee’s lifetime actions and achievements, with a primary focus on their contributions and achievements post-graduation.
ApplyBoard will create a one-time scholarship in the winner’s name to support deserving incoming international students.
The inspirational stories of each winner will be publicly recognized in a variety of marketing activities and channels, including press releases, social media, and video content.
The review process is completed by ApplyBoard’s internal team. A judging committee will be composed of a mix of different professionals in the international education space. More information about the judging panel will come soon; stay tuned!
Given this is ApplyBoard’s first ever International Alumni of Impact we are not limiting our campaign to a certain number of winners.
ApplyBoard is creating one-time $1,000 CAD scholarships in each of our winner’s names, which will be awarded to deserving incoming international students attending one of the institutions our winners graduated from. Students attending these institutions starting Summer or Fall 2023, who secured acceptance through the ApplyBoard Platform, are eligible. There is no application process; we will automatically select the most deserving student based on merit from the pool of ApplyBoard applicants.
